Daniel L. Brown, 86, of Allentown, passed away peacefully at Phoebe Home, Allentown, on Saturday, June 22, 2013. He was the husband of Claire (Dunstan) Brown, with whom he shared over 62 years of loving marriage. Born in Mauch Chunk, Daniel was a son of the late Arthur and Irene (Kemmerle) Brown. He honorably served his country in both the US Navy and the US Army, and later served as a police officer in Freemansburg and in Newport News, VA. He was an oil burner mechanic for Bethlehem Area School District for many years. Daniel was a 32nd Degree member of H. Stanley Goodwin Lodge #348 of Free and Accepted Masons, and was a past master of the Minsi Lodge. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown. Survivors: wife Claire; daughter Virginia Heller and her husband Bob of Bath; son Lester Brown of Allentown; sisters Evelyn Nestor of Virginia Beach, VA, Marcia Brown of Bethlehem; brother Charles L. Brown of Lawrenceville, NJ; granddaughter Nicole Brown of Northampton. Daniel was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters and by a grandson, Thomas M. Romig.
