Dana R. Riedel, age 72 of Sycamore, Ohio died at 1:18 P.M., Friday, August 26, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born on December 18, 1949 in Tiffin, Ohio to Ross and Emma (Steinhilber) Riedel. He married Jean (Long) Riedel on March 13, 1971 and she survives.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Haake and friend Jesse Detrick, Huntsville, Ohio and a son, Montgomery “Monte” (Brooke) Riedel, Kettering, Ohio. Also surviving are two sisters, Paula (Kirk) Kirkpatrick, Newberry Springs, California, Anita Wurm, Bucyrus, Ohio and a brother, Van (Cathy) Riedel, Crestline, Ohio, plus in-laws, Carl (Deb) Long, rural Tiffin, Ohio and Diana Pentony, Tiffin, Ohio, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He also had many fur baby grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Jane Ann and Jill Louise Riedel, in 1972.
Dana was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church where he was very active in all the music events at the church, plus other activities associated with the church. He also was the music director at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, rural Tiffin, Ohio for forty years.
Dana was a 1968 graduate of Mohawk High School, 1972 graduate of Heidelberg College, and formerly was working on his masters degree at Bowling Green State University. He was a member of the Seneca County Gideons, member of the International Piano Tuner’s Guild, member of the Wyandot County Council of Birth Defects, and was selected to be a member of the Outstanding Young Men of America.
For hobbies, he loved to play all kinds of music, gave many private music lessons to children, loved all kinds of high school and college sports, and was an avid Ohio State University fan.
