Carter “Dan” Garbett, 69, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, the afternoon of
Monday, October 31, 2022 in Pocatello, Idaho. Dan was born on May 21, 1953 to Harold D. Garbett
and Beverlie Carter Garbett. He was welcomed to his family by his brother David, age six and his
sister Kathy, age two. His sister Laurie completed the family three years later. Dan grew up in
Pocatello. He was a happy, active boy growing up in the Greenacres school area. He played Little
League baseball; his dad was the coach for many years. Dan attended Greenacres Elementary,
Alameda Junior High and graduated from Highland High School in 1971. He attended Idaho State
University for two years and then two years at the University of Utah where he graduated with a
Bachelor’s degree in Art. Dan went on to the University of California at Davis and received his

owned his childhood home in Pocatello and loved hiking the mountains and hills around town with
his beloved dog Lucky. He was an adventurer and loved kayaking on the Portneuf. Dan’s biggest
love and passion was his art. He painted, sculpted, and produced many works throughout the years.
He told his sister many times that he had a happy life.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Harold Dean Garbett, mother
Beverlie Carter Garbett, brother David Dean Garbett (Ruth), and sister, Laurie Garbett Miles (Scot).
Dan is survived by his sister Kathy Garbett Miles (Byron), five nieces and nephews, and nine grand
nieces and nephews.
