He graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1968 and from Indiana State University in 1972.
Dan was a man of many hobbies and interests: SCUBA instruction and flying, guns and pipe organs, old clocks and pocket watches, slide rules and calculators.
He was preceded in death by his father, (Frank) Alan Watson. He is survived by his mother Amy Watson, his wife Lonna Watson, his sons Nathan and Matthew Watson (and Kara), his grandchildren Levi and Clair Watson, and his sister Paula McHenry (and Walter).
