Damodaran passed away on September 20th, 2016 at 6:42 pm in Dallas, Texas, USA. He was at peace and was surrounded by his loving family and lifelong friends. Damodaran was born at Arangadath house in Quilandy, Kerala, India. He was the fourth child among six boys born to Kannapan and Narayani.

In his youth he was an excellent student and a soccer star. He graduated with a Degree in Science from Kerala University and was the captain of the Kerala State Soccer team. In 1980 he decided to give up his executive lifestyle in India and take his older brother Achuthan’s invitation to embark on a great adventure in the United States in order to provide a better future for his children.

He lived in the United States for 36 years and contributed greatly to the Dallas community. He loved being physically active and was a fierce competitor in soccer and tennis. He played for the Dallas Dynamos Indian soccer team and was a coach for the YMCA soccer league. He was an active leader in the Kerala Association of Dallas and volunteered his time and energy tirelessly. He was a gentle, kind and patient man who made friends everywhere he went. He was keenly intelligent, had a strong work ethic and was an excellent role model.

Damodaran was married to Jaya for 48 years and had two children, son Jaideep and daughter Roshni. Later, they were graced with daughter-in-law Bindu and son-in-law Samuel Foster. Finally, they were blessed with two wonderful grandchildren, Kanna Kandyil and Thomas Foster. Through them his strong legacy lives on. Damodaran was an inspiring youth who grew into a wise man, beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach, mentor and community leader. He will be greatly missed and will remain in our mind and heart always.
