Dale M. Homer, 75, of Chapin, IL died Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
He was born January 1, 1943 in Beardstown, IL, the son of Clifford and Gladys Hall Homer. He married Maxine Lael on June 2, 1963 in Literberry, IL, and she preceded him in death on September 13, 2014.
He is survived by three children, Marsha Homer of Chapin, Greg Homer (wife, Dana) of Concord, and Jennifer Petefish (husband, Matt) of Arenzville; six grandchildren, Travis Huddleston (wife, Alexis) of Jacksonville, Tyler Huddleston and Tanner Huddleston, both of Chapin, Brennan Vahle (wife, Courtney) of Troy, and Ava Petefish and Ainsley Petefish, both of Arenzville; a great grandson, Rhett Huddleston; a brother, Donald Homer (wife, Linda) of Jacksonville; a sister, Judy Garner (deceased husband, Randy) of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cheryl Chavez of Chapin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A 1961 graduate of Jacksonville High School, Dale was retired following over 30 years of service with the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Western Illinois Tractor Club and was a former member of the Chapin Volunteer Fire Department and the Big Country Days/Chapin Picnic Committee. He loved to support his grandchildren during their many athletic events and enjoyed restoring tractors and attending antique tractor pulls, shows, and cruises.
