Dale Heddens, age 88, of Galien, died peacefully Wednesday, July 25, 2018, in the comfort of his home in the presence of his family.Dale was born March 10, 1930 in Michigan City, Indiana to Paul and Hallie (Lewis) Heddens. He married Betty McGreehan on August 21, 1982 in New Buffalo, Michigan; she survives. Dale retired from Clark Equipment in Buchanan in the early 1980’s.
He then joined Betty in her cleaning business, ABJ Cleaning Service, where he took over carpet and upholstery cleaning. Dale was often found in his yard or garage working. He was always looking for things to do and learn new skills. He and Betty loved trying new restaurants which took them to many interesting places. He thoroughly enjoyed going to his daughter’s station each morning for a cup of coffee with the guys.
Dale was known for his sense of humor and quick wit, he was always ready with a reply. Dale will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Betty Heddens of Galien; children: Tim (Mary) Heddens of Texas, Irma Rice of South Bend, Mike (Kathy) Heddens of Grand Rapids, Debra (Steve) Osborn of Michigan City, Dwayne Heddens of South Bend, Jennifer (Mark) Hirdning of Buchanan, and Anna Gibson of Michigan City; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister Irene VonHartz of New Carlisle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and grandson Tommy.
