Dale Kenneth Atkinson, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away at his home Saturday, March 19, 2016, of natural causes, surrounded by his family.

Dale was born to Kenneth and Louise Atkinson on April 16, 1925, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was the oldest of four brothers. He graduated from Twin Falls High School. He joined the United States Navy shortly thereafter and served his country during World Ward II as a Navy Seabee. After the war, he returned to Twin Falls, where he began his life-long career as a meat cutter, working in several grocery stores.

Dale was lucky enough to love and be loved by three amazing women. He married his first wife, Phyllis Kimble, on August 16, 1946. They had two children, Sally and Scott. Dale and Phyllis spent 40 years together before Phyllis passed away in 1987. Dale and his second wife, Donna Crockett, only had a few years together before she passed away in 1994. Dale made life-long friends with her family, which he considered his second family. We would like to thank Dale’s sister-in-law, Connie Hague, for her help throughout Dale’s illness. For the last 18 years, Dale’s constant companion has been Louise Brown. She provided so much support, care, and love to him, especially in these last few months of his life.

He had a large circle of friends, including his coffee group and his dinner club. Dale took up golf in his retirement and it became his passion. He made special friends there as well as two holes in one.

He is survived by his children, Sally Colson and Scott (Diane) Atkinson; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brothers, Don (Helen, deceased), Dean (Bev), and Louis (Lillian) Atkinson; and his special friend, Louise Brown. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and wives, Phyllis and Donna.
