CYRIL ORSAK JR, 88, lifelong resident and farmer of Deming passed away peacefully at home Friday, December 30, 2011.

Cyril was born December 25, 1923 in Praha, Texas. The Orsak family moved to Deming in 1929. Cyril attended Catholic schools through the 8th grade. He then attended Deming Junior High and Deming High School where he graduated in 1943. The Orsak family farmed in Luna County. Cyril was given the responsibility of working the family farm when his brothers went into the service. He was active in FFA and won numerous ribbons at the fairs in El Paso, TX, Albuquerque, and Deming. He worked hard all of his life farming. Cyril was a quiet gentle man who let his land and crops tell his story.

Cyril was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Luna County Farm and Livestock Bureau. He was a charter member of the square dance club in Deming and loved to square dance. He also loved to hunt, in his earlier years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril Paul and Mary Anna Orsak, brother, Joe Orsak, brother-in-law, Bill Sloan, sister-in laws, Edwina Orsak and Margie Orsak and niece, Sari Orsak. He is survived by his sister, Anna T. Sloan of Deming; brothers Johnny (Pat) Orsak of Las Cruces and Leonard Orsak of Los Altos, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
