Cynthia Ann Smith was born on June 6, 1950 in St. Rose, LA to proud parents Jesse L. Smith and Evelyn Ralph Smith.  She is the third of four children born to her parents.  She grew up in a Christian home with Christian values, she was baptized as an infant in the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo until she moved to Houston to be near her daughter and grandchildren whom she adored.

After moving to Houston, Cynthia joined Bethel Family Church under the leadership of Pastor Walter August.  She served there until her health failed and she was too ill to attend services.  Cynthia’s main ambition in life was to live a Christian life in order that she may one day meet her Savior face to face and to help anyone that passed along the way.

Prior to her illness, Cynthia enjoyed going on cruises, attending events that her grandchildren participated in, talking on the phone especially to her nieces, and nephews and spending time with friends, Gloria, Maddie, Eva and Rowena.  Before moving to Houston, Cynthia formed a close bond with many families in the community where she was a babysitter for many of their children, some she helped to raise until they were school age and beyond.  Most of them know her as aunt Cinny and as adults still kept in touch.

Cynthia was educated in the St. Charles Parish School system and graduated from Destrehan High School in Destrehan, LA.  She left a lasting impression on everyone she met, because of her kind, loving, giving spirit and her willingness to help in any way she could.  She is loved and will be missed by many.  She was a native of St. Rose, LA and a resident of Houston, TX.

On July 7, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones, Cynthia was embraced by the loving arms of her Savior as she transitioned to her Heavenly Home.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Eddison Calloway; her two children, Aaron K. Smith and Nicole Smith Morrison; her son-in-law, Brian Morris; her loving grandchildren, Nya and Kayla Millender and Bricson Morris; her father, Jesse L. Smith; sisters, Jesselyn S. Williams (Earl), Eloise S. Williams (Bazile) and Anita S. Smith (Dwight); her brother, Eddie Cureaux (Selina); her godchildren, Paul Sampson Jr. and LeLonnie S. Session and her adopted godson, Darris Eugene.  She will also be missed by her uncles, Harry Smith (Jenny), Reynold Ralph (Elaine), Tyrone Ralph; her aunts, Esther S. Tumblin (Wesley), Vera S. Morton; her nieces and nephews who loved her like a mother; her cousins who loved her like a sister and many friends.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn R. Smith; her grandparents, Jesse and Mary T. Smith and August and Odette Ralph; her godparents, Marion R. Barrow and Henry DeGruy Sr.; her great niece, Javona Sampson and great nephew, Alex Curette.  She was also preceded in death by many uncles and aunts, she loved them all very much.
