Cynthia Ann Newkirk was born on May 29th, 1946 in Wilimington (New Hanover County), North Carolina to her parents, Robert and Christanna Newkirk. Being the 6th of 10 children, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Lilly and Jake Blanks.
She was educated through New Hanover County Schools. Shortly after graduating from Williston High School, Cynthia moved with her cousin, Dorothy Whitfield in Brooklyn, New York to pursue career opportunities.
She later gained employment with Chase Manhattan Bank as a Teller. Over the years, Cynthia rose through the ranks until she resigned as an Assistant Treasurer and Bank Officer.
Cynthia met a young man in Brooklyn, New York named Ronaldo Babb, they also happened to be neighbors. The couple were joined in holy matrimony on September 18, 1971. Ronaldo and Cynthia adopted a six-month-old baby boy, Ronald; and two years later, a six-month-old baby girl, Erika.
Cynthia geared her focus towards her family, and wanted to be more in-tune when her first child began going to school.
In 1993 the family of four moved to Colorado due to a job transfer of her husband, Ronaldo. Cynthia gained employment at Lockheed Martin in the Human Resources department and later managed it’s five employee gift shops. Ronaldo and Cynthia felt quite blessed to work for the same company. Several years later, Cynthia resigned from Lockheed Martin. She was later hired by St. Anthony Hospital where she managed the hospitals gift shop.
Cynthia retired to stay home to raise a third child, Kadence, (one of Erika’s children), who the family had adopted when she was three years old.
To know Cynthia was to love her, she was easy going, sincere, honest and very loveable.
Needless to say, well done thy good and faithful servant.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Newkirk and Christanna Newkirk and siblings, Mamie, Mary and Etta.
Cynthia joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 10, 2022. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Ronaldo Babb; children, Ronald and Erika ; grandchildren, Kadence Babb, Journey Babb and Kamari Babb; siblings, Sadie Griffin, George Newkirk, Robert Newkirk, William Newkirk, and Jacqueline Sweat; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
