Curry T. Haynes

Curry T. Haynes, 71, of White Plains, GA,, died Friday, July 16, 2017, at Athens Regional Hospital of cancer. He was the son of the late “Bobbie” and Curry T. Haynes of Oxford.  He was married to Kathy Weeks Haynes of Douglasville.

Curry attended Newton County High School, Gordon Military College, and Middle Georgia College.  He served three years in the Army with one of those years being in the jungles of Vietnam where he survived multiple injuries on two occasions.  He spent a year in the hospital at Fort Jackson.  He received 10 purple hearts as a result of his injuries.

Curry had a varied career. He ran a jump school, and taught flying in Ludgoff, SC.
 
Curry was an active member of Grace Fellowship where he lived out his life loving and serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because of his struggle with drug  addiction he was an original organizer of Celebrate Recovery at Grace.  His love for others led him to Penfield Christian Home in Penfield, GA where he actively supported those who had helped him in drug/alcohol addiction and recovery.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Danny Standard of Oxford, a nephew and his wife Fuyu and Gavin Woodruff of Eugene, OR and a niece, Amy Woodruff of Athens.
