Craig Holm Madsen of Middletown died last week after a brief illness. He is the son of the late Axel and Isabel (Fernandez) Madsen. Craig was born in Norwalk on July 27, 1956. After graduating from Wilton High School in 1974 Craig attended Western Connecticut State University and Middlesex Community College. Craig worked alongside his father for many years at Allied Sinterings, Inc., the family owned powdered metal manufacturer. In 2003, Craig moved to Middletown to be close to his family. Craig was a gentle giant who loved the simple things in life- a weekend at Watch Hill, a good dinner, dancing, listening to doo-wop, enjoying a funny story or joke, following the WWE and its colorful characters, especially John Cena, and studying the stock market. Craig spent countless hours watching the “tape” on CNBC, studying Barron’s and Value Line and strategizing over the best time to buy and sell stocks. He almost always outperformed the leading funds and celebrity stock pickers. Craig was extraordinarily generous, always willing to assist family, friends and even strangers. Above all, Craig loved animals of every shape and size. He was a devoted pal to Trooper, his beautiful and loyal black Lab, and to his fluffy cat Hurley. In addition to his sister Maria and brother in law Robert Holzberg of Middletown, Craig leaves his brother Eric Madsen of Armonk, NY, aunts, nieces, nephew and cousins and his very special friends Robin Reynolds and Dr. Michael Good who so generously encouraged and supported Craig in his efforts to have a healthy and active life.
