Craig E. Hambidge 97, was born in Otterbein Indiana to Charles Raymond and Nellie Mae (Dunwoody) Hambidge. He was the youngest of three children who have all preceded him, his brother Theron and his sister Shirley.
Craig grew up on the family farm in Benton County. He was a three – sport athlete and graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1934. Craig went on to graduate from Purdue University in 1938.
On June 27, 1942 he married Dorothy Piechorowski , who preceded Craig on February 15, 2011. They had seven children of whom 6 survive. William (Bert), Mary Haggard (John), James ( Sherie), Jeanne Malone (James), Timothy (Kathy), and Richard ( Kandie). Their daughter, Jane Ann preceded her parents. Craig was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Craig ‘s engineering career began at Oliver Plow. He moved on to the Bendix Corporation and retired after almost 40 years. While at Bendix he was President of the Management Club.
A strong believer in giving back to the community, Craig was an active volunteer. He worked with the Boy Scouts at Holy Cross Church, the YMCA, St. Joseph Hospital, and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.
Craig was a member of Holy Cross Parish for over 60 years.
