Cornell Bernard Tinner Celebrating the Years 1948-2007
Cornell Tinner was “Richard Pryor” funny. Never did he miss a beat or a comeback with some funny expression or joke about some of life’s simplest things. As a child, his nickname was “Popcorn.”Cornell was born in Washington, DCin 1948 to Bernard and Geneva Tinner. He attended DunbarHigh Schoolwhere he played varsity football. Immediately after graduation in 1967, Cornell enlisted in the Air Force. It was the height of the Vietnam War and Cornell had two tours of duty. But before going to serve his country in war, he married his high school sweetheart Hattie (nee Harris). From this loving union, they had 2 children, Gail and Cornell Jr.
Cornell Tinner is also a descendant of the late Joseph Tinner, First President of the first rural N.A.A.C.P. (National Association for the Advancement of Colored). We will always cherish our son, father, and brother Cornell. He leaves us with fond memories and we have been blessed to have him as part of our lives: parents Bernard and Geneva, daughter Gail and her husband Daryl, son Cornell Jr., his wife Jaime and their 2 children (Cornell’s grandchildren) Jamelle and Octavia, sisters Bernadine, Doreen (Alphonso), and Delphine (Ronnie), his former wife Hattie, Aunts Hilda, Annie, Roni, Viola (Puddin), Juanita, Norma, and Uncle Gilbert, his childhood best friend Jimmy Lee, several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and lasting friends.
