BLOK, CORNELIS “NEIL” He was born on June 4, 1927 in Oostdyk, The Netherlands, the son of the late Bastiaan and Cornelia (Van Iwaarden) Blok.

Neil served in the Dutch military in New Guinea. He immigrated to Canada in 1951. On June 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Cornelia Moerdyk. They moved to Kalamazoo in 1957. Neil worked as a residential contractor until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid traveler, reader, birder, wood carver, and connoisseur of bakeries and ice cream.

Surviving are his five children, Thomas (Joan) Blok, Bruce (Kim) Blok, Gary (Meloni) Blok, John (Florentien) Blok, and Carrie Blok; twenty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Cornelia VandenBerg, Francien Allaart, Catharina Kole, Pieternella vanHoute, and Machlien (Joop) Broodman; one brother, Pieter (Annelies) Blok; and numerous nieces and nephews both in the US and The Netherlands.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Cornelia Blok on October 22, 1983; one sister, Jannie DePagter; and three brothers, Jan Blok, Johannes Blok and Bastiaan Blok.
