Cora P. Force, 90, of Beardstown, IL and formerly of Chandlerville, IL died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
She was born February 5, 1919 in Mason County, IL; the daughter of Oliver P. and Margaret Mae Guntermann McDaniel. She married Melvin L. Force on January 29, 1938 in Palmyra, MO and he preceded in death in 1980.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Force (wife, Peggy) of Virginia and Jerry Force (wife, Jean) of Beardstown; six grandchildren, Rick Force (wife, Suzanne), Pamela Sargent (husband, Edward), Darrin Force, Robert Force (wife, Jodi), Michelle Hamann (husband, Joe), and Becky Wydell (husband, Chris); 11 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Eugene Force in infancy; four brothers, Orlin Duwayne in infancy, Vernon, Jess and Roy McDaniel; and six sisters, Ollie Shoemaker, Ethel Neely, Eunice Hodgson, Edna Davis, Maudie Collins, and Pauline Griffie.
Mrs. Force worked at Kordite in Jacksonville for 10 years and later at the Holiday Inn in Jacksonville for several years. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she loved caring for little children and often provided babysitting services for area families. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Mason County.
