Beloved husband, father and friend, Conrad B. Szabo, 73, of New Britain, CT passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. He was born in Flushing, NY to the late Lewis and Betty (Jablonski) Szabo. He lived in Syosset, Long Island with his family until he was 21 when he then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and proudly served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Conrad met his wife, Shirley (Schmidt) in Hutchinson, KS where they married and lived for 3 years before they moved to Connecticut. Conrad was proud to be a State of Connecticut Court Stenographer for 38 years. During his career Conrad worked in several State Superior Courts in CT with respected professionals who became dear friends. Conrad loved time spent with his family and friends. He also loved children, animals, golf, bowling, photography, world news, music, the NY Yankees, most sports, hiking in the mountains, movies, musicals and the theatre. He also enjoyed his travels to Alberta Canada, Arizona, Kansas, the Oregon Coast, Seattle, Washington D.C. and many other states in the U.S. His loyalty, kindness, laughter and sense of humor will be greatly missed. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Shirley, his loving wife of 49 ½ years, his daughter Debra L. Szabo, his daughter Beth Ann Lewis and her husband Trevor, his son Todd M. Szabo, and his brother Ronald Szabo and his wife, Marina. He was predeceased by an angel son, Michael Szabo. He will also be missed by his beloved grand-dogs, Olive and Abby.
