Born July 21, 1951 in Litchfield, Illinois to Elmer and Bernadine Sandrin. She passed in the arms of her loving husband of 33 years Jim Isenburg into the loving hands of God on July 24, 2017. She is also survived by her mother, Bernadine Sandrin Buffington; sisters, Christine Petit & Colleen Sandrin (Tom Merline); sister-in-law, Nancy Hall; brother-in-law, Tom Isenburg; & Connie’s siblings’ children & grandchildren. Connie is remembered for her infectious laugh and her positive outlook on life. Simply “Mrs. I” to the hundreds of elementary children she taught in her 30 years with Adams County District 50. She impacted the lives of countless students, families and colleagues. Connie found a new love in teaching science through the Steve Spangler Hands-On Science program. As an Ambassador, Connie championed the program as School Science Coordinator; presented at National Science Teacher conferences throughout the country; and continued to share this passion at schools after retirement. She and Jim also brought interactive Manned Space Flight ‘field trips’ to the classroom. Connie’s greatest honor was selection as a Colorado semi-finalist for NASA’s Teacher In Space program. Having moved to Boulder in 1960, Connie loved the mountains and the majestic beauty of our state. She and Jim had multiple adventures in car camping trips throughout Colorado and the continental United States. Their love of travel also took them to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. She was an avid Broncos fan and season ticket holder since the good old days of Mile High Stadium. For all who knew her and loved her, she will be missed.
