Clydia Jo Wells Wood, age 87, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at her residence.

 

Clydia was born July 19, 1934, at Cannel City in Morgan County, a daughter of the late J. C. and Celia Richardson Wells.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark Boyle, and three brothers, Donald H. “Don” Wells, William T. “Bill Tom” Wells, and James C. “Jim” Wells.

 

She is survived by one son, Mitchell Boyle (Kathi) of Dade City, Florida; one brother, David Wells (Jo) of Morehead; one sister, Dean Wells Carter of Concord, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Gena Boyle, Mark Boyle, Ed Boyle, and Matt Boyle.  Other survivors include nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

Clydia graduated from University Breckinridge School where she was active in several organizations and was a cheerleader. At an early age, she moved to Florida where she resided in Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Okeechobee until she returned to Morehead 15 years ago.

 

In Florida, she owned and managed several businesses.  She was a caterer for a number of years, operated a dog grooming business, and raised and showed Komondors and Afghans at various dog shows, including Westminster.  For six years, she lived in the Caymen Islands and owned a boat repair shop. A “workaholic” by nature, Clydia was an avid reader who was a passionate patron of the Rowan County Public Library.
