Clyde Kenneth Overcash, 73, of Troutman passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

He was born in Iredell County on May 25, 1938, the son of the late Clyde Allison and Carrie Ethel Dickens Overcash.

He was a lifetime member of Troutman Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang with the choir for 57 years. He was a salesman for Sherwin-Williams Paint Company and was also self-employed as a wallpaper hanger. He founded a bluegrass group, Bluegrass Monday Music, and served as a volunteer fireman with the Troutman Fire Department for a number of years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Joyce Benfield Overcash; his son, Kenny Overcash; his two daughters, Robin O. Holleman (Gene, Jr.) and Michele O. Sparks (Don); a sister, Dean O. Bruce (J.C.); a brother, Lee Roy Overcash (Sandra); a brother-in-law, Bill Benfield (Nancy); six grandchildren, Shanna Holleman Stutts, Genie Holleman Souza, Alice Holleman, Aaron Sparks, Walter Holleman, III, and Kaitlyn Sparks; three great grandchildren, Cavin Stutts, Lincoln Stutts and Joseph Souza; his stepmother, Frances B. Overcash; two stepsisters and two stepbrothers.
