Clyde Franklin Collier, 90, a resident of Anderson and a retiree of General Motors, passed away on January 16, 2013 at Community Hospital, Anderson.

He was born on September 13, 1922 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and resided most of his life in Anderson. Born in Wise County, VA, his family moved to Indianapolis, IN where he attended grade school. His parents purchased a farm in Westfield, where he graduated from Westfield High School with the class of 1942. He served four years in the Navy and was a member of the Southdale Church of the Nazarene. Clyde was very active in the church missions program serving on all three missionary conferences and was a director of many work teams from various churches.

The work teams would travel to several states as well as Africa, Puerto Rico, Alaska and Mexico. Clyde was a trained Master Electrician while serving in the Navy. He did the electrical wiring for churches, parsonages, and for the homes for Habitat For Humanity here in Anderson. Clyde was a Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Auxillary Police. He attended Ball State University and has resided here since 1947. Clyde and his wife, Virginia Vanderhoof Collier observed their 65th wedding anniversary on August 30, 2012. His life was dedicated to the service of his Lord, a loving father, husband, and a friend to everyone.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Virginia, daughter, Connie Collier of Indianapolis, brother Arthur Collier wife Donna of Peoria, AZ. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
