Clinton F. Lane, Ph. D., of Flagstaff, Arizona passed away May 19, 2007. Clint was born January 29th, 1944 in Iowa City, Iowa to Raleigh and Edna Lane. He grew up in rural eastern Iowa, where he attended a one room school house as a child and graduated from Muscatine High School in Muscatine Iowa. Clint’s higher education included a B.S. from Iowa State University, a Ph. D. in chemistry from Purdue University, and post-doctoral research at Cornell University. While at Purdue, he met and married Vickie Loveless. They were looking forward to their 36th anniversary this July.Clint was blessed in being able to spend his life in pursuing his passion and love for chemistry. After completing his formal education, he shared his talents with Aldrich Chemical Company for more than 30 years. He also collaborated with Purdue University, The Department of Energy, and served as a research professor at Northern Arizona University. At N.A.U., his work included his own research projects, as well as mentoring and tutoring aspiring chemistry students. Since his retirement, Clint and Vickie have been residing in Flagstaff, Arizona. Clint enjoyed hiking, off road excursions in his jeep, and riding his Harley through the northern Arizona landscape. Clint is survived by his wife Vickie, his son William (Bill) of Sheboygan, WI, and his daughter Adrienne Bates (Jeff) of Ann Arbor, MI. His grandchildren Bella Victoria, Grace Katherine, & Josiah Raleigh Bates were the lights of his life. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Bharucha of Windsor Heights, NJ, two brothers, Royce Lane of Laramie, WY, and Richard Lane of Eldridge, IA, his father in law, Calvin Loveless, and a sister in law, Linda Nahm, both of Lafayette IN, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clint was preceded in death by his parents Raleigh and Edna, a brother Jack, and a sister Kathryn, all of Muscatine IA.
