Rev., Dr. Clausell Boykin, Jr. was born  September 19,1940 in Gainestown, AL to the parentage of the late Rev. Clausell, Sr. and Wilcy Mae Foxx Boykin. He departed this life on May 11, 2018 at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, AL.

Clausell accepted Christ at an early age, being baptized and uniting with the St. James AME Church in Choctaw Bluff, AL. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Nancy Rocker and this union was blessed with eight sons and two daughters. Later in life he united in Holy Matrimony to Autherine Ruggs Kidd. Preceding him in death in addition to his father, were two grandsons.

Clausell initiated his work career at the Walter Wiley Andrews Hardware Company, Jackson, AL. He later trained and became certified in plumbing and electrical work and started his own business, C. Boykin Plumbing and Electrical Company. He also served the Clarke County School System as a bus driver and the Jackson Healthcare Facility as lead maintenance technician.

Rev. Boykin accepted the Master’s call into the ministry in 1985. His pastoral profession began at St. James AME Church in Choctaw Bluff, AL. He also pastored Spencer Chapel AME Church in Fulton, AL for a total pastoral career spaning twenty eight years. Attending the E.L. White Seminary of Mobile, AL, he attained the degree of Doctor of Divinity. A peoples person, in addition to preaching God’s Word, he loved fishing, spending time with family and friends, and singing with the Evening Stars Gospel Singing Group.

Dr. Boykin leaves to forever cherish his memories his loving wife of twenty six years, Autherine Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL; nine sons, Marvin Lamar (LeBrenda) Boykin, Jackson, AL, Dr. Michael Jerome (Sarah) Boykin, Mathews, AL, Burel (Linda Faye) Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL, Chester Ray (LaQuinta) Boykin, Chatom, AL, Willie Lee (Elizabeth) Boykin, Grove Hill, AL, Clausell (Alfeda) Boykin, III and Terry Dewayne (Klashette) Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL, Samuel Lee (Lucretia) Boykin, Jackson, AL and Reginald (Kimberly) McCants, Atmore, AL; four daughters, Brenda (Oscar) Causey, Silas, AL, Cheryl Mavritte, Silver Springs, MD, Gabriel Michelle (Fredrick) Jonhson, Thomasville, AL and Arlinda Marie (Floyd) Sharp, Grove Hill, Al; his loving and devoted mother, Wilcy Mae Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL; two brothers, Richard (Sarah) Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL and William “Bill” Woodard, Mobile, AL; one sister, Mary Washington, Mobile, AL; seven brothers-in-law, Eld. J. C. (Emma) Rocker and Oscar (Gladys) Morgan, Mobile, AL, McArthur (Thelma) Ruggs, Shalimar, FL, Lee Marshall Rivers, Mobile, AL and Charlie (Geraldine) Rivers, Sarasota, FL; four sisters-in-law, Susie Tarleton, Prichard, AL, Joyce (Clint) Hawkins, Gosport, AL, Hattie Rivers and Lousie Henderson, Sarasota FL; forty one grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; five aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friend, including Earl Lee Berry, Sr.
