Clarence W. Thomas, 81, Alexandria, died January 18, 2004 at Spring Mill Meadows, Indianapolis, after an extended illness.

He was born June 8, 1922 in Anderson, Indiana, and was a lifelong resident of this area.

He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1980 after 41 yrs. of service. He served his country in the Navy during WWII as a master mechanic from 1942 to 1948.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married November 10, 1951, Maxine Hancock Thomas; a son, M. William ”Bill” & wife, Cheryl Thomas of Bloomington, IN; a daughter, Patricia A. & husband, Vance Maxwell of Pendleton, IN; grandchildren, Craig Thomas & Kyle Thomas of Bloomington, IN and Michael Maxwell & Taylor Maxwell of Pendleton, IN; a sister, Betty & husband, Robert Schepper; brother, John & wife, Barbara Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John William & Grace Trueblood Thomas; and brothers, Charles Thomas, James Thomas and Harold Thomas.
