PORTER
Clarence Jarel Porter, age 74 , of Baltimore, passed away at home on June 1, 2017. It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we say goodbye to husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend, Clarence Jarel Porter. Clarence was diagnosed with lung cancer December 2015. As he did throughout his life, he fought bravely and without complaint. He won his battle as he never gave up. Cancer did not beat him; God decided he needed a much deserved break. Born May 28, 1943 in Kentucky to Russell and Ethel Porter. Predeceased by parents and beloved brother James Calvin Porter. Clarence was known for his workmanship and dedication to his job as a carpenter throughout Central Ohio. Being involved in many high rise and commercial jobs, his reputation was impeccable. His word or handshake as binding as any legal document. Clarence was a decorated Vietnam veteran, serving his country proudly from 1967-1969. He met his love, Phyllis and married in 1966. Daughter Tiffany was born in 1970 and daughter Shannon in 1971. Life was good. When grandson Matthew came into this world, his life was complete. Clarence retired when Matthew was two and he finally had a fun-filled childhood with his “little buddy”. They played, hiked, hung out, knew every park and playground within a 50 mile radius. They watched movies on rainy days, Foghorn Leghorn five times in one day. More joy for Clarence came when granddaughters Anna and Megan were born. He was the happiest ever in his life. He was in love, loved, content and at peace. He leaves to cherish him, his wife of 51 years, Phyllis, daughter Tiffany (Bill) Hart and granddaughter Megan, daughter Shannon (John) Williams, grandson Matthew and granddaughter Anna. Two brothers Talmadge (Doris), Tim (Fannie) and one sister Minnie Blevins. Special thanks to Dr. David Carbone, OSU Thoracic Oncology, for doing everything humanly possible to keep Clarence with us, Kelly (I.V.) for always shopping first, all the infusion staff for loving and caring for him and making him comfortable.
