Clarence Joseph Weinzetl, son of Joseph and Pauline (Csukker) Weinzetl, was born April 14, 1927, in rural Mallard, Ellington Township, Iowa. He was raised and attended school in the Mallard area, graduating from Mallard High School in 1945. Clarence served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. On February 12, 1949, Clarence was united in marriage to Alice Schumacher in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They farmed in the Mallard, Iowa area until his retirement, then Clarence worked for Orlo Oskvig on his farm and later worked for Palo Alto County Conservation in Ruthven, Iowa. Clarence was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and American Legion Post 345 for 56 years. He enjoyed time with his family, fishing, building birdhouses and playing Pinochle each day. Clarence passed peacefully in his sleep at Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg, September 14, 2013, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Monica Jansson. Clarence is survived by his wife Alice of Mallard; daughters Linda Weinzetl of Sioux City, IA, and Susan (John) Feld of Swea City, IA; son James Weinzetl of Bancroft, NE; grandchildren Jeffrey (Nairoviz) Feld, Amy (Don) Mumford, Jason (Jessica) Feld; great grandchildren Rylee M. Feld, Dakota J. Mumford, and Madalynn J. Feld.
