Clara V. Chandler, 93, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2007, in her home.

Clara was born on December 31, 1913, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Mary (Kowalski) Radlicki and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 25, 1945, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, as Clara V. Radlicki, she married Chester J. Chandler, who preceded her in death on September 8, 2000. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Hildegarde Woltman, Jane Radlicki and Julia DiGrazia; by a brother, Thomas Radlicki; by two stepbrothers, Joseph and David Podelwitz; and by a great-granddaughter, Alexis Chandler.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Bruce) Woodcox of Mishawaka; her three sons, Paul (Carolyn) of Avon Lake, OH, Henry (Mary Ann) of Granger, IN and Dennis (Cindy) of Osceola, IN; nine grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Chandler of Amherst, WI, Melanie (Ken) Voll of Avon, OH, Matthew Chandler of San Francisco, CA, Allison Chandler of Granger, Darren Woodcox of Mishawaka, Stephanie Woodcox of Zionsville, IN, Jonathan Woodcox of Mishawaka, Jason Chandler of Chicago, IL and Evan Chandler of Osceola; by two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Chandler and Danica Voll; and by her lifelong friend, Virginia Bedics.

Mrs. Chandler worked as a cashier for Robertson’s Department Store, South Bend, for 10 years, before retiring in 1946. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, a member of the Rosary Society of St. Hedwig, the Polish Roman Catholic Union and the Polish Women’s Alliance of America.
