Clara June Gerard 82, of Grafton, passed away on Saturday March 13, 2021 at her residence with her closest family by her side. She was born June 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Andrew (Andy) and Blanche Bussett Takacs. Clara was the wife of the late Samuel Joseph Gerard Jr who was the love of her life. She accepted Jesus as God’s sacrifice for her sins and we will see her in Glory when we all get there.
Clara attended Saint Augustine High School and later received her Masters’ Degree at West Virginia University to become a Special Education Teacher. She taught in Pasco County, Florida and in Taylor County Schools. She loved teaching her students while preparing them for the future. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and being on her farm. She enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the birds, watching the livestock and wildlife. Clara loved her family and all the time she spent with them, her family and friends were her greatest joys and making memories with them was what she enjoyed most in life.
Clara is survived by a son, Samuel J Gerard III and his wife Teresa, of Grafton; a daughter, Diana Palmateer and her husband Shawn of Clarksburg; five granddaughters, Samantha, Lorraine, Clara Renee, Lesil, and Mercedes; and three grandsons, Andrew, Ronald, and Anthony, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gerard, and a daughter Renee Bahleda.
