Cindy L. Dougherty, 50, of Bristol, passed away on Thursday January 28, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Cindy was the beloved wife of Daniel Dougherty. Cindy was born on July 26, 1959, in Bristol to the late Robert and Genevieve (Wells) Matthews.
Cindy was raised in Burlington, moving to Bristol to begin her life with Daniel and raise her family. Cindy was a hairdresser by trade, and more recently was employed with Victorinox in the West Farms Mall. In her spare time, she would knit, or sew or crochet, and enjoyed reading a good book. She liked to travel and went cross country a few times. Above all, Cindy cherished the time spend with her family, and enjoyed the company of her “furry grandchildren”. Her memory will be forever kept in the hearts of those who knew her.
Along with her husband Daniel Dougherty of Bristol, she leaves her 2 loving daughters Holly Buttero and her husband Jonathan of South Windsor, and Heidi Dougherty of Evans Mills, NY. She also leaves 10 brothers Robert, Charlie, Paul, Norman, Michael, Don, Edward, John, Arthur and William Matthews; and 3 sisters June and Laura Matthews and Joan Dufresne, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her two closest friends Ann Matthews and Debbie Stevens. She was predeceased by her 3 sisters Genevieve Blaschke, Susan Shamper and Mary Matthews.
