Chris Ferrara, formerly Chris Smith, passed away on Friday, November 17th. He was 38 years old. Chris is survived by Sherri, a loving wife of 13 years, and two adoring sons, Tristan (8) and Gareth (4). Other family members include his mother and stepfather, Andrea and Curt Kroha; his brother Kenny; his grandfather, Andrew Ferrara; his in-laws Sue and Robert Young; his sister-in-law, Kelly Young; and his beagle Cookie. Along with his immediate family, Chris will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and innumerable friends.
Out of respect for his heritage and to honor his grandfather, Chris changed his name from Smith to Ferrara in 1998. He was a longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach and a member of the Choctaw class of 1986.
Through his zest for living, Chris demonstrated to all who knew him the importance of compassion. A proud father, he tirelessly devoted time to his sons. He never met a stray animal he didn’t adopt and his loyalty to the Miami Dolphins never wavered. He was an excellent handyman, a lover of classic mustangs, and bartender of wide renown. His infectious sense of humor and sharp wit earned him many friends.
Chris will be sorely missed.
