Christopher George Michael McKenna, 85 of Plymouth died peacefully at home on January 28, 2022 following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the love of his life Gerard Paul Donelan with whom he shared 43 wonderful years together. Christopher was born in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY on July 28, 1936, son of the late Lawrence J. and Kathryn B. (Brosnan) McKenna. He was educated at Regis High School in NYC, as well as Fordham University and Parson’s School of Design. He had worked for Liberty of London prior to his employment at Neiman-Marcus in San Francisco where he was Visual Merchandise Manager for over 23 years; retiring in 2005. Christopher greatly enjoyed his time living and working in London and San Francisco before retiring to Plymouth where enthusiastically embraced being part of the Plymouth community, its history and specifically with the Plymouth Antiquarian Society having served on the board and participating in a great many events. He had many versified interests including travelling, especially cruising through Panama Canal, Caribbean Islands, and Galapagos’ Islands, and corresponding with longtime friends. Christopher enjoyed going to the Opera and listening to countless arias including La Boheme, Handel & Hayden, Tosca, Aida, Nabucco and Manon in San Francisco. In addition, never idle, he enjoyed reading everything and doing crossword puzzles. Christopher was always known as a kind, gentle man and would frequently reminisce about his countless trips abroad as he would sail across the seas on the HMS Queen Mary. His fond memories of his travels put a smile on his face whenever he spoke of them. Without a doubt, Christopher will be deeply missed by the vast number of hearts he touched. Besides leaving his loving husband Gerard Donelan, Christopher was the beloved brother of Lawrence McKenna of NYC, NY and his nephews Lawrence Jr. and his wife Jennifer, their children Alice, Rebecca and Sebastian, Robert & Arthur McKenna and niece, Nora Hurley, her husband Terry and their children Terry Jr. and Elizabeth. He also leaves his dear sister Catherine McKenna McGill and her husband John of Brooklyn, NY and Somerville, MA and her son John Andrew and his wife Adrianne, as well as their children June and Emmett.
