PLYMOUTH, MA – Christopher Dewing, age 53, a longtime resident of Plymouth, MA, passed away from complications of Covid-19 on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, with his family by his side. He was the beloved son of George Dewing of Plymouth and the late Joan Dewing of Plymouth, MA. He is also survived by his Brother Kyle Dewing (Donna Williamson) of Plymouth, MA, his Nephew Chase Dewing of Plymouth, MA and Sister Chandra Delaney (James Jacobs) of Dedham, MA. He had several supportive and kind Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins that he loved deeply. The compassionate staff at the Seven Hills group home in Plymouth were instrumental in giving him the special care that was needed. Chris made several friends at his day rehabilitation facility at Habilitation Assistance in Plymouth.Despite being born with Down Syndrome, his mom made sure he received every opportunity his siblings did and he took advantage of enjoying life. During his early years, he enjoyed summers down the Cape with his family and cousins and was a voracious swimmer and cook. His family were all very proud of the many medals that he achieved from competing in various sports in the Special Olympics.Chris was artistic and enjoyed coloring and drawing. He treasured his video games, his Dunkin’ Donuts strawberry coolattas (with whipped cream, mind you) and cheeseburgers. Whenever you asked what he wanted to eat, he would gesture with two fingers (as in I want “2” of each item). He was a fervent fan of rock music, especially Elvis Presley, and adored playing his guitar and dancing. He also cherished all the Superheroes such as Batman and Superman, but had a special place in his heart for was not a fan of having his hair cut or touched and therefore would usually wear one of several hats out of his hat collection to protect his head from prying hands. When you had the opportunity to make him laugh, his infectious smile and laughter would light up the room; and when he hugged you, it was the perfect gift.
