Christopher David DeFazio entered eternal life on Monday, November 15, 2021. No doubt, he is sitting by a fire smoking a cigar, listening to good music enjoying all those who have gone before him, including his beloved mother, Susan (Honeybear). His spirit and love is carried on by his wife Michele (Davis) and his three children, Nathan (24), Ben (21), and Ava (14), his father, Richard (Dick), four surviving siblings Neal, Jeanne, Hope and Rich, and in laws, Alice May, Robert, Michael, and Heather, as well as an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life from all over the country. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Chris during his short 55 years, among them:
ALWAYS SIT AROUND THE FIRE. Being a Steeler fan is not an option if you grew up in Pittsburgh. It is ok to order a burger in a 4-star restaurant. Heinz ketchup is the only choice. When in Pittsburgh, ALWAYS eat at Verona Village Inn and then buy a Pasqualinos Pizza to take home. The only way to drink iced tea is in a manly cup, or straight out of the jug. Decorate for Christmas before Halloween and Christmas music and movies are essential October-February. It’s a Wonderful Life is the greatest movie ever made. Marvel is #1 and DC is #2. Every holiday meal should have lasagna and always hide the good treats where no one can find them. A good hiding place for chocolate is in the ice maker. Sitting with your mother-in-law can be fun if you are smoking, listening to music, and talking about all things. Try to make your wife laugh when they she is mad at you. Enjoy the small things in life and all things will work out. Try not to take a serious picture. GPS is just a suggestion. Music is healing for the soul and always listen with your eyes and your ears. Put down the damn cell phone when someone is talking to you. A meal at home is better than at a restaurant. Games are played to have fun, not to win. You don’t need to spend money to make memories. A good meal is a vacation. Don’t be jealous of what you don’t have, enjoy what you do have. If you love someone tell them the truth and when someone blows it forgive them. Just saying “I’m sorry” is NOT an option, express it through action. Sometimes men just need to be around men. Failure will happen. Bad things happen to good people. God is good all the time. God is speaking, are you listening? Character is the true measurement of a person and money, and status does not define your importance. Pursue those you love, people who are messy are beautiful, and give time and money to those in need. DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. Be spontaneous. You are no better or worse than anyone else. And most importantly, Jesus is real, He loves us and there is always hope for all who need it.
Chris loved people. He could make us laugh and cry in the same minute. We love and appreciate that we have memories of enjoying every day simple things like listening to music, sitting on the porch, talking to a neighbor, or taking a drive. We will always feel your presence in our lives because you always enjoyed simple things that surrounded us every day.
