Christine Duffield Berndt passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2022. A feisty character till the end, she was a popular resident at The Inn of Greenwood Village in Denver, CO.
Christine was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England in 1938. She was the youngest of five children born to William and Florence Duffield. It was in England that she met the love of her life, Bill Berndt, who was stationed in her hometown with the USAF. Their marriage took place in October of 1956, and they were married sixty-four years until the time of Bill’s death in December of 2020. After completing Bill’s tour of duty in England, they settled in Sheboygan, Wisconsin where they raised their three children. Despite living in the U.S. for all of her adult life, she was fiercely proud of her British heritage.
Christine was an avid reader, and worked as a librarian in the Children’s Room at Mead Public Library in the 1960s and 1970s. She also enjoyed gardening, golfing, knitting and sewing. Her yard in Sheboygan was a labor of love and resembled a true English garden..
Survivors include her daughters Lynn (Jamie) and their children Alexandra and William, Debbie (Jaymon), and their sons Justin and Tyler, and her son, Mark (Liz) and Mark’s children Christina (Nik), Jeremiah (Ally), Jacob, Joel, Colin, and Caedan as well as three great grandchildren Eliam, Alyosha, and Uriel. She is further survived by her brother Eric Duffield (Cornwall, England) and many extended family members in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
