Christine Helen Schurman, age 87, of DeMotte passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Rensselaer.
Christine was born on December 9, 1929 in South Holland, IL the daughter of Jacob and Sadie (Venema) Ketelaar. She attended Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois. Christine married the love of her life, Clarence Schurman on September 21, 1951 in South Holland, Illinois. She retired from F.W. Means in Chicago, Illinois where she had worked as a bookkeeper. Christine was a member of Immanuel United Reformed Church of DeMotte. She had previously been active in numerous activites in her church. She enjoyed cooking & baking and caring for her family. Christine used to work at the Bultema Farm Stand on route 30 years ago. She liked gardening and playing her electric organ.
Christine is survived by her husband: Clarence Schurman; her children: Timothy (Catherine) Schurman of Racine, WI; Sue (Bill Osborne) Schurman of Osceola, IN; daughter in law: Patricia Schurman; 3 grandchildren: Charles (Becca) Schurman; David (Amber) Schurman; Thomas (Leah) Schurman; 9 great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy Anker of Huntingsburg, IN.
Christine was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 5 sisters, and grand daughter: Helen Christine.
