Christina Renee Lorenz, age 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2020 at her home in Shelby, Nebraska. She was born on March 26, 1955 in Lynwood, California to James and Helma (Haas) Lorenz.
Christina’s love and passion were always her children and grandchildren. Cruising down I-5 in a vinyl-upholstered Celebrity station wagon on the way to Disneyland blaring Neil Diamond with the windows down enjoying the Pacific breeze are among the most cherished memories her children keep. Her fondness for Christmas celebrations instilled a love and joy for the holidays and family that became lifelong traditions her children carry on. When it came to education, Christina was an artful writer helping lend her craft to her children dreaming of ideas to compose for essays and schoolwork. She could always find the right word for any situation.
She also enjoyed fishing and her dogs, Stinger and Prince.
She will always be remembered for her humor, wit, and good tunes (here’s looking at you, Sweet Caroline).
Christina is survived by her four children: one daughter Tricia (Jason) Weidner of Humphrey, three sons: Evan (Molly) Christensen of Winter Garden, FL, Kyle (Shri Rengasamy) Christensen of London, England, and Vance (Sarah) Christensen of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren; her father James (Moneera) Lorenz of Lewes, Delaware; and one sister Sylvia Vega of Beaumont, California.
She was preceded in death by her mother Helma.
Christina had great compassion for individuals of all abilities, and she passed that love and compassion down to her children. One of her grandsons happens to have autism, and he receives equine therapy through smile, a wonderful organization offering horse rides to those with disabilities of all ages.
