Chlorine “Priss” Haralson
May 10, 1931 – June 14, 2022
Ida Chlorine “Priss” Brewer Webb Haralson was welcomed into this world at the family home in Sheridan, Arkansas on May 10th, 1931 by her parents, Willie Girven Brewer and Lois Lybrand Brewer and five older siblings. In all she had four brothers and three sisters that all preceded her in death along with her parents. William “Crook” Brewer, Harrison “Pete” Brewer, James “Bud” Brewer, Joe Brewer, Mavine Brewer Gray, Geraldine Brewer May, Vernell Brewer Bradbury.
At the tender age of 16 Priss married Edgar Webb and began their adventures together by moving to California. They were blessed with three sons during their marriage. Priss and Edgar returned to Arkansas in 1964 and soon divorced.
In 1967 Priss married Gene Haralson. They were given 37 years together before Gene passed in 2004. During their time together, Priss worked as a clerk for Safeway and had a reputation for knowing how to properly check and bag groceries causing people to seek her out. It could have been her friendliness and sense of humor as well. She loved to go to the casinos and play Wheel of Fortune or to Hot Springs and bet on the horses or West Memphis to bet on the dogs. She always chose her ponies based on the names she liked.
Once Gene retired from his painting business, the two decided to set off on a new quest working for the Corp of Engineers as fee collectors in Arkansas State Parks. DeGray Lake was a favorite location to work because of the many family vacations enjoyed there previously, and it had great fishing. Priss was an avid fisherwoman that just couldn’t stop. Whether the lake, riverbank, or pond, when it was time to leave you would hear her calling out, “just one more cast.”Priss was an amazing cook and loved to feed people. Everyone knew they were going to be well fed when going to her house. From lasagna to fudge and other sweets, she made sure no one would go hungry at her home. During their time with the Corps of Engineers the Rangers could often be found knocking on her door for a “cup of coffee” knowing she was going to feed them properly.Along with being a talented seamstress, Priss had a special knack for crocheting and knitting. She gifted many, many beautiful blankets over the years. A special blanket was created with specific colors for each child, grandchild and great-grandchild. In her later years, you could usually find her knitting “dish rags” sitting in her chair with her feet pulled up beside her watching old reruns of game shows. After Gene passed, Priss moved to Sheridan to live with her youngest son, Donald. He watched over her and learned her cooking secrets during those years. After 13 years with Donald, Priss moved to Searcy with her oldest son, Bill Webb and his wife, Mary. She was declining in health, but still full of funny one-liners that kept everyone guessing. Earlier this year, Donald joined them in Searcy to help with her care. The three fussed over her and cared for her tenderly, and this is where she remained until the very end. Surrounded by her family, loved by her family, and now dearly missed by her family.
Priss is survived by her sons, William (Mary) Webb of Searcy, Ronald (Nancy) Webb of Sheridan, and Donald Webb currently of Searcy; five grandchildren, Neil Webb of Benton, Angela Webb (Chris) Goodin of North Carolina, Gary (Nancy) Webb of Ouachita, Kristen Webb (Tracy) Tinsley of Tennessee, and Greg (Randi) Webb of Sheridan; 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Nancy Brewer (Bud) and Kathleen Brewer (Joe), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her eldest son, Bro. Bill Webb will bring the message.
