Chiyo N. Clements, the daughter of Kojo Nishida and Uma Nakagawa, was born March 22, 1929 in Shiga-Ken, Japan. On February 22, 1955 she was united in marriage to Kenneth William Clements, Jr. Chiyo lived most of her life in Newton, Iowa. She worked for many years as a cook in the Newton Community School District. She loved to walk and exercise and cook her famous Japanese cuisine for her family. Chiyo always had a smile on her face and was always happy to see you. She was never a stranger to anyone and put everyone’s needs before her own. You could always find her at a Cardinal football game and attending most of her grandkids’ activities and sports. Her family was everything to her.
Chiyo went to be with the lord on October 11, 2008 in Nicolette, MN. She was 79. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenny; and her daughter, Rose.
Those left to celebrate her life are her four sons and their families:
