Chilton J. Barnes Jr., 66, of Cogan Station, passed away suddenly Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at his home. Surviving is his loving wife of 34 years, Susan C. (Dieffenbacher) Barnes.
Born Nov. 10, 1951, in Harrisburg, he is a son of the late Chilton J. and Agnes (Maskarine) Barnes Sr.
Chilton was from Hummelstown and graduated from Hershey High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam for eight years. He spent the next 37 years working for HSB Global Standards as an Authorized Inspector before retiring in 2017. Chilton enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, where you could often find him on Tuesdays with his son Eric fishing in the Lunker League. He liked NASCAR and was very supportive local veterans associations.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Eric C. Barnes and fiancee, Lauren Lorf, of Williamsport; two brothers, Gary Barnes (Sue), of Dillsburg and Richard Barnes, of Jersey Shore; a sister, Darlis (David) Cleek, of Lynchburg, Tenn.; brother-in-law, George Dieffenbacher, of New Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
