Chester Raccaro, 94, of Orange, died June 1, 2015 at St. Raphael’s Hospital, New Haven, after a brief illness. He was the husband of 25 years to Alice F. Raccaro, who predeceased him in 1985. Born July 19, 1920, in Gretna, Louisiana, he was a son of the late Peter and Amelia Flaibani Raccaro. As a resident of Orange, Chester owned Modern Electric where he performed work as an electrical contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved making his own wine and spent hours tending to his garden with his dog Sparky by his side. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific. Chester is survived by a brother, Benito Raccaro of New Haven, sister Mae Raccaro of Meriden, and sister-in law Virginia Raccaro of Hamden. He was predeceased by brother Edwin Raccaro of Hamden, and sister Elsie DeMatteis of Hamden. He will be missed by his many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces and especially by the family of his dear friends Jay and Nancy Nastri of Orange.
