Chester “Chet” Felix Bukowski, of Vernon, CT/ Silverdale, WA, and formerly of New Britain, passed away on Thursday, August 7th, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, WA. He was the loving husband of the late D. Elizabeth “Betty” (Bohn) Bukowski (d1999). Chet was born in New Britain, on 3 February 1931 to his late parents Chester John Bukowski (d1955) and Anne (Sokolski) Bukowski (d1998). He was educated in local N.B. schools. As a youth, he was fond of hiking and camping, and was an Eagle Scout and an Order-of the-Arrow- Member in the Boy Scouts of America. He saw military duty during the Korean Conflict and was commended as a member of the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Service. Honorably discharged in 1952, he was a CT Post 0062 member of the American Legion. Chet graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1958 with a BSEE degree in Electrical Engineering and subsequently held positions with Electric Boat, Mc Donnell Douglas Aircraft, and the Corporate Systems Center for the Hamilton Standard Division of United Technologies Corporation. He often stated that he was fortunate in having varied and interesting work projects that included assignments in Nuclear Submarines, Guided Missiles, High-speed Turbo Powered Trains, Automatic Cartographic Scanning and digitizing equipment, as well as Aircraft “Black Box” accident recording and diagnostic systems. In 1986, he was presented with a UTC award for “Extraordinary Management Effectiveness”. Throughout his career he traveled frequently and extensively through Europe, the Near East, the Far East, the Orient, Africa, and North and South America.
