Chauncey Benjamin Tyler, age 43 years of Niles, Michigan died unexpectedly at 6:39 p.m. at Lakeland Hospital – Niles from complications of a lifelong battle against kidney disease.
He was born on December 23, 1974 in South Bend, Indiana to Benjamin W. Tyler and Cynthia Ann (Skinner) Tyler. He was graduated from Brandywine High School in Niles, and had lived here most of his life other than a few years in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Gary, Indiana. He had been employed at the Strikes & Spares Entertainment Center in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Chauncey was a Porsche automobile enthusiast, and had previously owned a Porsche 944. He also enjoyed motorsports, attending select events, often at the GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan and Road American at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. He occasionally rode on-track with his father who shared this interest in Porsche and motorsports.
Surviving family includes his parents, Benjamin (& Sharon) Tyler of Gary, Indiana and Cynthia Edwards of Niles; brother, Christopher Tyler of Niles and step-brothers, James (& Sherell) Poston of Gary and Donald (& Cheryl) Poston, Jr. of Harrisonburg, Virginia; many nieces and nephews including Janayah Tyler, Tyanna Poston, Maxine Poston, and Darlene Poston; a host of cousins; Chauncey’s grandparents, Osceola & Mary Skinner of Niles; and many aunts and uncles including Leslie Skinner, Robert (& Jackie Straight) Tyler and Donald (& Martha) Riley.
A time of sharing memories and honoring the life of Chauncey Tyler will be led by his great-aunt, Rev. Rebecca Mitchell of Vandalia, Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
