Charlotte M. “Char” Castle, age 96, of Gladstone, passed away Tuesday evening, January 3, 2017 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

Char was born December 3, 1920 in Dollar Bay, MI, the daughter of John and Delia (Harper) Cane. Char was raised in Ontonagon and was a 1939 Ontonagon High School graduate. She was united in marriage to Ralph E. Barry October 14, 1939. To this union two children were born. Sharon and a daughter who passed in infancy, Karen. Following her husband’s passing in 1968, Char completed a course in Accounting at Northern Michigan University and moved to Escanaba. She married James Castle in Escanaba in 1971. They later divorced.

Char was a long time volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul and was an active member of civic and political organizations in Ontonagon County. Char enjoyed her garden and was an active outdoors woman who loved deer hunting and sports.

1 Niece: Carolyn (Lloyd) Martindale
And special friend: William Lamarche and Lamarche family
