Charles W. Carroll, 86, of Oglesby, died June 13, 2010 at St. Margarets Hospital in Spring Valley.
Charles was born February 8, 1924 in Adair County, Kentucky to William Daniel and Sara Elizabeth (King) Carroll. He married Arvy Goode on March 17, 1945 in Columbia, Kentucky. He served in the navy during WWII stationed in Pearl Harbor when WWII ended. He was a horse trainer in Kentucky. He owned and operated Bolatto and Carroll Texaco Station from 1959 to 1972 in Marseilles.
He is survived by his wife, Arvy; one son, Charles W. Carroll, Jr. of Ottawa; two daughters, Wanda (Dave) Prybylinski of Rogersville, TN and Barbara (Ken) Lane of Marseilles; 8 grandchildren, Todd Lane and Chad Lane, Sonya (Mark) Landers, Michelle (Jeff) Eich, Heather (Greg) Mueller, Curtis (Jill) Carroll, Leslie (Steve) Fischer and Elizabeth (Allistair) Nugent; and 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virgie Gabbert of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Aileene Eastridge of Casey Creek, Kentucky and Wyvetta (Raymond) Benningfield of Shephardsville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two great- grandchildren, Lane Reegan Landers and Lilly Rose Fischer, two brothers, Grover and Chester Carroll and two sisters, Nellie Greer and Annie Thompson. Pallbearers will be Todd and Chad Lane, Curtis and Larry Carroll and Loren Ray Greer.
