Charles T. Stevens

1943 – 2012

Charles Terry Stevens, 68, passed away from a sudden heart attack at his home in Emmett, Idaho on February 29, 2012.  He was born September 27, 1943 to William and Helen Stevens in Nampa, Idaho and lived the majority of his life in Meridian, Idaho.  Charles graduated from Meridian High school in 1961 and had enjoyed catching up with his classmates at their 50th high school reunion this last September.  He joined the Navy after graduation and was honorably discharged in 1965.  After leaving the Navy he came home to his family’s homestead in Meridian and together with his dad began Steveacres Holsteins Inc.  Together they raised and milked many registered Holsteins and farmed 80 acres.  

Charles married the love of his life, Pauline, and together they raised 5 children.  Kim (Rick) Lebhart of Phoenix, AZ; Kelley (Jeff) Hansen of Vale, OR; Teri Whaley of Emmett, ID; Sharlie (Harry) Workman of Kuna, ID; Charles W. (Irene) Stevens of Boise, ID.  He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren he truly adored-Jessica (Geremy) Nelson, Mathew Hansen, Tyler Lebhart, Devin Whaley, and Aubree and Sophie Workman.  He also had 2 great grandsons, Conrad and Corbin (due this month).  He also left behind 4 sisters who adored him- Louise (Jerry) Lorenz,  Donna (Steve) Benedict, Billie Stevens, Mary Jo (Ken) Waller, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandpa and great grandpa and will be terribly missed by all.  

During his life Charles wore many hats.  On top of being a dairy farmer he was a volunteer Policeman in Meridian during the late sixties and also served as a Rural Fire Commission for 6 years.  He was very active and held many offices in the Meridian and Idaho Jaycees and he became a JCI Senator at the age of 35.  Charles was also an active member of the Meridian Dairy Board since 1979, held many offices in the local and state Holstein Association, and was the leader of the Crafty Critters 4-H club for many years.  He was currently the Open Class Dairy Superintendent at the Western Idaho Fair.
