Charles Edward Royce, Jr. passed away at his home Thursday, April 16, 2015 after a heroic fight with cancer. He was 55. Chuck was born December 20, 1959 in Cottonwood, Arizona. He grew up and went to school in Tucson, graduating from Tucson High School. He enjoyed working at his grandpa’s camera store throughout high school, expanding on his passion and experience in photography. In 1978, Chuck joined the US Navy serving as a radar operator for two years. Due to an accident, he was medically retired in 1980. Following his discharge in Bremerton, WA, he attended Bellevue Community College, graduating with his Associate of Arts Degree in Photography. Chuck began working for Washington State University in 1987, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. They dated for four years and were married on Kamiak Butte on July 10, 1993. Chuck was a devoted and loving father to David, Sandra, and Carly. He was the photography supervisor in the Bio-Medical Communications Unit in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the time of his death.
