Charles Riley Little passed away in his home on Wednesday, August 10, surrounded by his loving family. His infectious cheer and fierce loyalty will be missed by many. His passion for people, especially his family, was only outmatched by his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Charlie was born in Dallas on November 17, 1931 to Cleo and Thalia Little. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he was a cheerleader, track runner, and Eagle Scout. In 1949, he enrolled in Texas A&M University and joined the Corps of Cadets, where his unrivaled charisma resulted in three General Moore awards for most outstanding unit. Despite his achievements in the Corps, he was most proud of the lasting relationships he formed with his friends from Aggie Christian Fellowship.

After graduating in 1953 and serving in the Air Force, Charlie joined the staff of Young Life. There he met the love of his life and best friend, Myrna, who stood faithfully by his side for the next 62 years. Myrna and Charlie’s days together were ones filled with joy and laughter.

Charlie pursued his life-long career in architecture, starting his own company in 1963. He served on various committees for the city of University Park and was an award-winning Accessibility Specialist for the state for 17 years. An avid sports fan, he was a lifetime supporter of Texas A&M and the Highland Park Scots. Charlie’s favorite times were spent with his three children and five grandchildren. He never a missed an event in their lives and was undoubtedly their biggest fan. Charlie used his gifts of story-telling, words of encouragement, and humility to guide him as he wrote several books dedicated to his family.

As a committed member of his church and a Deacon, he cherished opportunities to teach Sunday school and share the love of Christ. His life was lived for the glory of God, who is now saying to him face to face, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

He is survived by his bride of 60 years, Myrna Gotchall Little; his children, Lori Little Haughton and husband Bill, Leslie Little Newman and husband David, David Little and wife Jenny; and by his grandchildren: Bryan and John David Newman, Margaret Newman Mizell and husband Ross, Leslie Catherine Ginzel and husband Reid, and Jennie Lou Haughton.
