Charles Richard Catania, Sr., 93 ( a few weeks shy of his 94th Birthday) of East Haven; passed away peacefully at CT Hospice in Branford on April 12, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Victoria Jablonski Catania; born in New Haven May 5, 1920, youngest and last son of the first New Haven Italian bread bakers (” Catania Bakery” of Fair Haven ) the late Michael & Marie Catania. He was a graduate of local Hamden & New Haven schools and was a WW II Veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.
