Charles R. “Bob” Bowker, age 79, died Sunday February 27, 2011 at the Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mt. Holly. Mr. Bowker was born in Burlington Twp., and was a longtime resident of Burlington and Florence. Mr. Bowker was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Marine Corps. He had worked for the A & P warehouse in Florence, the Washington National Insurance Co. in Burlington and finally for Aluminum Shapes in Delaire, NJ for over twenty years until his retirement.

He was an Elder for the Providence Presbyterian Church in Bustleton, a member of the Board of Trustees for Cedar Hill Cemetery in Florence and a boy scout leader and executive for the Burlington County Council. He loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed camping, gardening and bird watching. Mr. Bowker is survived by his wife Kathleen (nee Whelan); his children Robert E. Bowker of Colorado, Lynn M. Bowker of Mississippi, Lisa Rein of Cinnaminson, Kathleen Sweeney of Roebling, Salvatore DiMaio of Riverton, Anthony DiMaio, Daniel DiMaio and Diane Bowker, all of Florence, 32 grandchildren, his brother Harry K. Bowker of Burlington and his sister Patricia J. Stokley of Eastampton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Thursday in St. Paul’s R.C. Church E. Union St., Burlington.
